Teaching and learning ideas:
After reading the book, students can draw pictures and share stories about their own families.
- Before reading, students can discuss different variations in families that they know about.
- Encourage students to describe the family, home and setting in the first illustration using the Intercultural Communication Kit Question Cards - Observes.
- Whilst reading the book, ask students to observe and compare the different kinds of families illustrated and use the Intercultural Communication Kit Question Cards - Compares.
- Throughout the book, take opportunities to discuss different aspects of families and their lives (including homes, jobs, clothes, feelings, and family relationships).
After reading the book, students can draw pictures and share stories about their own families.
